Mark noticed the nest down on our lower deck.He set up a camera, weather-proofed and hidden.
We also watched live with a video cam and monitor so we could watch without disturbing the family.
If we were lucky enough to be looking at the monitor when Mom showed up we took a picture with a remote control switch.
She could hear the click of the camera but she didn't mind.
The babies were awesome.
Mom had sat through rain and hail.
But here were these gorgeous little babes.
We could see changes every day.
Once every few days we went down to have a real look, they stayed stone-still every time we peeked.
And you think your kids grow quickly!
Mom had to be flying almost constantly to keep them fed.
Sometimes she returned to the nest after dark so we worried just a little, until we saw them the next morning.
That last morning I had a feeling they weren't going to be around much longer.
They spent a little time balancing on the edge of the nest.
They definitely didn't need much practice.
They took turns trying their wings. First one...
....then the other.
One last little sibling snuggle...
...and then they were gone.
